We humans are sexual beings, and sex is a principal motivator in our lives.

Beyond the short-term gratification of great sex lies the much greater and universally shared longing for a meaningful relationship and love.

How we set about searching for another person to love and be loved by often occupies a large amount of our thinking time (awaked and asleep).

In the process of this search, misunderstandings occur usually because we have failed to comprehend or perhaps even think about the non-verbal signals that we are sending out to others and receiving back from them. It is possible to change – but you may need to do some uncomfortable self-searching in order to increase your self-awareness, and ultimately improve your self-confidence.

The Staple Singers were an American gospel, soul, and R&B singing group. Roebuck “Pops” Staples (1914-2000), the patriarch of the family, formed the group with his children Cleotha (b. 1934), Pervis (b. 1935), Yvonne (b. 1936), and Mavis (b. 1939). They are best known for their 1970s hits “I’ll Take You There”, “Respect Yourself”, and “Let’s Do It Again”. The family began appearing in Chicago-area churches in 1948, and signed their first professional contract in 1952. During their early career they recorded in an acoustic gospel-folk style with various labels: United Records, Vee-Jay Records, Checker Records, Riverside Records, and then Epic Records in 1965. While the family surname is “Staples”, the group used the singular form for its name, resulting in the group’s name being “The Staple Singers”. It was on Epic that the Staple Singers began moving into mainstream pop markets, with “Why (Am I Treated So Bad)” and “For What It’s Worth” (Stephen Stills) in 1967. In 1968, the Staple Singers signed to Stax Records and released two albums with Steve Cropper and Booker T & the MG’s — Soul Folk in Action and We’ll Get Over. By 1970, Al Bell had become producer, and with Engineer Terry Manning, the family began recording at the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, and Memphis’ Ardent Studios, moving in a more funk and soul direction. The first Stax hit was “Heavy Makes You Happy (Sha-Na-Boom Boom)”. Their 1971 recording of “Respect Yourself”, written by Luther Ingram and Mack Rice …

PRESENTED BY: MELISSA MONTGOMERY DIRECTED BY: REV. JAY LEAL BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH THERECORDSHOPNASHVILLE.COM, and REBEL REV. PRODUCTIONS The Rhinetones have been steadily making their way into the Nashville music scene since November 2010. Originally from Texas, brothers Michael and Samuel McBurnett have been playing, writing and recording their own music for the better part of 10 years. Both brothers began playing a combination of funk and jazz. They converted rooms of their childhood home into studio space where regular late night jam sessions would take place. Their passion for music eventually led them to study music at McLennan Community College’s Commercial Music Program in Waco, Texas. Here they garnished an appreciation for classic country along with western swing and folk music. All of Michael and Samuel’s influences have always been thoroughly infused into their music. They have developed a unique and colorful blend of classic folk and roots music with rich harmonies and melodies reminiscent of the early days of rock and roll. In July 2010 they released their self-titled debut The Rhinetones which is now available for digital download on iTunes as well as Amazon and other online music distribution vendors.

Carl Belew 4/21/1931 ~ 10/ 31/1990 Carl Belew was born in Salina, Oklahoma on April 21, 1931. Like many aspiring artists of the Mid-50s, Carl switched from making small rockabilly records to country music. Carl was introduced to Four Star Records in 1955 by Marvin Rainwater (Gonna Find Me a Bluebird) and subsequently released the rockabilly singles “Cool Gator Shoes” and “Folding Money.” After that, he won an amateur contest in Pasadena, California which led to a recording contract with Decca Records. With backing from the major label, Carl launched his recording career in the country music arena. During that time, he made appearances on a pair of radio programs; Town Hall Party and The Cliffie Stone Show. From there he had a brief stint on the famed Louisiana Hayride and then in 1959 he relocated to Nashville. The move allowed him the opportunity to appear on the Grand Ole Opry and continue pursuing his recording aspirations. Carl’s breakthrough composition “Stop the World (And Let Me Off)” hit the Top 10 in 1958, when Johnnie & Jack released their rendition of the song. The song was later covered by Patsy Cline. The following year, Andy Williams hit the Top 5 with “Lonely Street,” a song which would become Carl’s trademark tune thanks to a cover by Patsy Cline. Gene Vincent, Tony Booth and Rex Allen, Jr., also covered the song. Carl wrote “Am I That Easy to Forget,” a Top 40 pop hit for actress Debbie Reynolds that was subsequently recorded by Engelbert Humperdinck …
